Onward snags seasoned VP of Sales before heading into another year of rapid growth.
We’re excited to announce a new addition to Onward’s sales team, Mike Cornelius, as we plan for another year of rapid growth in 2022.
Mike will join us as Onward’s first Vice President of Sales. Onward is a freight marketplace that connects retail stores to underutilized trucks already on the road. We’re currently partnered with 75 retail stores across six states and are actively looking to forge new partnerships with retailers.
About Mike Cornelius
Mike Cornelius brings over a decade of experience to the role. Most recently, he served as Senior Director of Business Operations at GoSite, a Series B SaaS company working with small business owners. Prior to GoSite, Mike was the Director of Enrollment Operations at Guild Education focusing on sales and customer service organizations through immense growth. He scaled employee headcount by 10x while increasing revenue by 100x during his three-year tenure at the company. Additionally, Mike built and scaled mid-market and enterprise sales teams during several years at Yelp. Through the course of his career, Mike has already been part of three liquidity events for the private companies he has helped build.

The Road Ahead
In 2021, Onward made leaps and closed an oversubscribed $4.7 million seed funding round led by Range Ventures and Matchstick Ventures, as well as follow-on investments from Springtime Ventures and others. The company intends to use the funding to strengthen the marketplace, build out its SaaS platform, and expand the sales team with the goal of entering 15 states by the end of 2022.
